Philly Cheese Steak
There are those days when you just want something fast to make. The Philly Cheesesteak is one of those meals that is so easy to make and full of yummy flavors. The Philly Cheesesteak is made up of thinly sliced steak along with your favorite bell peppers, onions and garlic.
According to the Official Philadelphia Tourism website, https://www.visitphilly.com/food-drink/philadelphia-cheesesteaks/ The origin of the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich was invented back in 1930 by Pat Olivieri who was a hot dog vendor and one day he put steak on the grill. The story behind how the Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sandwich became popular is that a cab driver smelled the steak cooking on the grill when passing by and asked for a steak sandwich. The cab driver ordered one then two steak sandwiches and shortly after more cab drivers would go to this hot dog stand just to eat steak sandwiches.
When I do not have a lot of time in the kitchen this is my go to meal and it is very filling. When I cook my Philly cheesesteak I enjoy eating it by itself as I prefer not to eat grains, however this would make a delicious sandwich as well. When I crave a juicy steak sandwich I would make this for dinner and if I have any leftovers I will take this for lunch since this meal will still taste delicious the next day.
Philly Cheese Steak
Ingredients:
1/2 Large Onion
1/2 Orange Bell Pepper
1/2 Yellow Bell Pepper
1 Pound of Shaved Beef Steak. I get mine from Trader Joe’s
Olive Oil
1 tbl Minced Garlic
Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
Pepper
1/2 tsp Redmonds Real Salt
Directions:
Slice Onions and Bell Peppers
Drizzle Olive Oil in pan on medium heat
Add Onions, Minced Garlic and Bell Peppers
Sprinkle 1/2 tsp of Salt and 2 pinches of pepper onto the onions and bell peppers (you can use less salt if preferred)
Sauté for 5 minutes or until soft, stirring occasionally
Add the shaved beef
Add more salt and pepper. I used another 1/2 tsp of salt and 2 pinches of pepper
Reduce heat to low and continue to occasionally stir all ingredients together
Once meat is fully cooked turn off stove and let the meat rest for a few minutes
Add Shredded Mozzarella Cheese on top of the meat
Put meat in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds just to melt the cheese
Note: Salt to taste. Everyone’s taste buds are different. I like a lot of salt in my food but you can reduce the amount of salt in the meal. Keep in mind you can always add more but never take out.
Enjoy by itself or put on top of your favorite lettuce for a healthier option
