Cauliflower Pizza

Cauliflower Pizza

This Cauliflower Pizza is so delicious you won’t even miss a regular pizza.

There are many benefits of eating Cauliflower.  According to the Living Strong website https://www.livestrong.com/article/410151-the-health-benefits-of-cauliflower/ cauliflower provides Potassium and is a good source of Vitamin C.  But just like anything always eat in moderation as some people may have a sensitivity to certain foods.

Now that we know cauliflower has many good benefits did you know you can substitute some of your favorite foods with cauliflower when cooking?  You can make cauliflower rice and even cauliflower mash.  I really enjoy trying new ways to cook and make food tasty.  Eating healthy does not have to taste bad or have no flavor.

I often hear from my peers that cooking at home takes so much time and they just do not have time to cook.  I get it I was there at one time.  Home cooked meals take a bit longer to make oppose to eating out, but the benefits of cooking at home are more valuable than going out to a fast food place to eat.

Several years ago it was so much easier just to take the family out to eat pizza at our favorite pizza pub.  The advantage for us just to go out for dinner was convenience.  It was simply easier for my husband and I due to our busy schedule instead of staying home and cooking.  The disadvantages of eating out was how much our bill was for a family of 4 and all of that bread just made me fat.  Since then I have learned to substitute wheat with almond flour which is amazing and honestly I don’t even miss regular bread.

When I cook pizza I usually will make it with almond flour but recently I went to a pizza place that my daughter absolutely loves because they have a really good cauliflower pizza.  I was skeptical at first but after eating the cauliflower pizza I was hooked.  Since then I was determined to make my own.  I really hope you enjoy this pizza just as much as my family and I do.

Cauliflower Pizza

Author: Angela Perez

  • prep time:15 minutes

  • cook time: 30 minutes

  • total time:45 minutes

Servings: 2

Ingredients:

  • 1 Bag of Cauliflower Rice
  • 1/2 Tbs Garlic Powder
  • 1 Tsp Italian Seasoning
  • 1/2 Tsp Redmonds Real Salt
  • 1/4 Tsp Ground Pepper
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 Cup of Shredded Parmesan Cheese
  • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese
  • 1/3 Cup Kerrygold Salted Butter
  • 1 Tbs Minced Garlic
  • Small Paint Brush
  • Parchment Paper
  • Small Pizza Pan
  • Cheese Cloth

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven to 425 degrees
  2. Add parchment paper to pizza pan. If you are using a small individual size pizza pan you can cut the parchment paper in half and place on top of the pizza pan
  3. Microwave 1 bag of cauliflower rice for 6 minutes or until cauliflower is soft. Be sure to cut the tip off the bag before placing in the microwave
  4. While cauliflower is in the microwave combine in a medium bowl 1/2 cup of parmesan cheese, 1 tsp of Italian Seasoning, 1/4 tsp ground pepper, 1/2 tsp of Redmonds real salt and 1/2 tbs of garlic powder and mix together
  5. In a separate small bowl beat 1 egg then add the egg to the cheese mixture and mix together
  6. Once cauliflower is soft, remove from microwave and let it cool for a few minutes before straining the excess water to avoid burning you hands
  7. After the cauliflower is cool place cauliflower in cheese cloth to strain the excess water. Be sure to remove all water from the cauliflower so your pizza is not watery. This will take some time and muscle
  8. When all of the water is removed from the cauliflower add the cauliflower to the egg mixture
  9. Mix all ingredients together by hand
  10. After mixing all ingredients together form two medium size balls
  11. Place one of the cauliflower ball on top of the parchment paper and gently push the mixture using your hand to form the shape of a pizza
  12. Use your fingers to shape the edges of the pizza into a circular shape
  13. Flatten as much as you can. I like mine flat so the cauliflower crust cooks thoroughly
  14. Before cooking the cauliflower pizza crust I like to spread garlic butter on top of the cauliflower crust by using a paint brush.
  15. Bake pizza in over for 20 minutes at 425 degrees
  16. After 20 minutes carefully flip the cauliflower pizza crust over and bake for an additional 5 minutes
  17. Once cauliflower pizza crust is done flip over one more time and then the mozzarella cheese add your favorite toppings
  18. Put pizza back into the oven for an additional 3 to 5 minutes just to melt the cheese. If the pizza crust is browning turn down the oven temperature to 350. This process is just to melt the cheese

Note: If you do not like garlic as much as I do then you can skip the garlic butter when baking and add your favorite marinara sauce. Just be sure to check the ingredients to make sure there are no hidden sugars
